Instructions for Picture Posting!
|
It may sound silly, but your picture has to be on a website
So,
The instructions are in two parts. If you already have your pictures uploaded to Imagestation or Epson or TheDollPage.com or even your own site, skip Part One and go directly to Part Two.
If you don't know how, or where to upload your pictures to the web, start with Part One. |
Part One
Getting your picture from your computer and putting
it on the Web
(specifically, putting your picture on
TheDollPage.com
Photo Album)
| 1. | Access TheDollPage.com Photo Album – you will need to register, this is very easy and painless. Once all registered, logon to the photo album by clicking the "Login" link above the blue line. | |||||||||||
| 2. |
Click on the "Upload Photos" link, (right hand side of
page above the blue line. This will bring up the "Upload Photo" page. Note: If you do not see the "Upload Photos" link after logging in, your registration is not complete. See the bottom of the Registration Help Page to get this resolved. |

Part Two
Getting your picture to show up on a forum
| Now we get the URL, or address, of your
picture. Once you have that, you can post it on any forum that
allows picture posting, like Deb's Dollhouse or Prego. |
||
| 1. |
(The following instructions are for a
Microsoft Windows operating system. For Macintosh users, click here, then skip to step 3)
Place your cursor directly over the picture and "right click"
A grey box will open up when you right click
over the picture. At the bottom of the grey box is the word
"Properties" Click on the word "Properties" (a regular 'left click') and
the "properties" box will appear. |
|
| 2. | In the "properties" box, near the top of
it, you'll see the "Address" or "URL" printed. (Click here for example picture) You need to copy this URL, this is what you need to put in the "Image URL" box when you post on Deb's or Prego. There are a few ways to copy the url. You could write it all down and then type it into the Image URL box on Deb's or Prego, but there's a much easier and faster way. |
|
| Copying the URL: First you need to "highlight" the URL. There are two ways to highlight it. My favorite way is to place the cursor anywhere in the URL and quickly "triple click". By clicking three times really fast, the entire URL should turn blue, which means that it's now highlighted. (Try 'triple clicking' this paragraph here. You'll see the entire paragraph turn blue, which means the entire paragraph is now highlighted. Click anywhere outside the highlighted area to de-highlight the paragraph.) The other way to do it is to place the cursor just before the http: of the address, and move the cursor down and to the right until the URL turns blue. (highlighted) | ||
| Now that it's highlighted, you need to get your computer to copy it onto the computers' "clipboard". And, as usual with computers, there's more than one way to do this, too. My favorite way to copy the URL to the clipboard is to place my curser over the highlighted URL, right click somewhere over the highlighted area, ( a grey box opens up), and then click "copy. Doing that copies the entire URL string into the computer clipboard. The other way to do it is "Control C". Whenever anything is highlighted on your computer screen, holding down the "control" button on your keyboard while hitting the "c" letter on your keyboard will also copy anything highlighted on your screen to the computer clipboard. | ||
| 3. | Pasting the URL: Now that the URL of your picture is 'copied' into your computers clipboard, you can insert it, (paste it), into the appropriate place on a forum | |
| I'll use Prego as an example, but Deb's and
many others use the exact same format. Go to Prego and go to the "Post A Message" area. Click in the box marked "Image URL" and erase the "http://" that's already in there. The URL you copied in the previous step already has the "http://" as part of the URL. If you have two "http://" your picture will not work. Now that the "Image URL" box is empty, paste the URL of your photo into it. Again, there are two ways of doing it: Right click in the "Image URL" box and click on "paste". The entire URL of your photo will be put in the "Image URL" box, or; With your cursor in the "Image URL" box, hold down the "control" key on your keyboard while hitting the "v" on your keyboard. ("Control v" is the command for "paste"), and the URL of your picture will appear in the box. |
||
| 4. | Fill out the rest of your post by typing
your name, email, and message in the appropriate boxes. If you have a link to your home page or a web site you want people to visit, enter the URL of the page in the "Link URL" box. Only a URL, (http://www.thedollpage.com) can go in this box. You can name the link anything you want by typing the name of the link into the "Link Title" URL.. As an example I've used the DollPage.com URL above, and in the "Link Title" box I can type "The Doll Page", or "Click Here for The Doll Page". When your message gets posted, whatever you type in the "Link Title" box appear at the bottom of your post, and anyone who clicks on it will be taken to the URL you put in the "Link URL" box |
|
| 5. | Click on the "Preview" button. Always do this. If your message looks good in the Preview, then click the "Post" button. If your message has errors, you can correct them here and preview again or post. | |
Advanced Picture Posting
Getting multiple pictures to show up on a forum
| Did you ever wonder how people manage to get several pictures in one post? They do it using some HTML code and putting the HTML code in the "Message" area of their post. | ||
| To put a picture in with your message, you take the URL of your picture and put "image tags" (HTML code that says that this URL is an image) at the beginning and the end of the URL. | ||
| An example of a picture url: http://www.thedollpage.com/photopost/data/3013/1Asian_Theme_064.jpg?4155 | ||
| An example of a
picture URL with image tags: <img src=http://www.thedollpage.com/photopost/data/3013/1Asian_Theme_064.jpg?4155> |
||
| At the beginning of the picture URL you put: <img src= | ||
| At the end of the picture URL you put: > | ||
|
If you want the pictures to be side-by-side you insert a space between the strings (it will be one string separated by a “space” and then the next string:
<img src=http://www.thedollpage.com/photopost/data/2/17charlotte3.jpg?5636> <img src=http://www.thedollpage.com/photopost/data/2/17charlotte3.jpg?5636>
If you want the pictures to be in a row vertically you hit the “enter” or “return” key between the strings:
<img src=http://www.thedollpage.com/photopost/data/2/17charlotte3.jpg?5636> <img src=http://www.thedollpage.com/photopost/data/2/17charlotte3.jpg?5636>
|
||
| Be sure you never use image tags when putting your picture URL in the "Image URL" box. The image tags only work when you put them in the main area, (The "Message" box). | ||
| In the "Message" box, you can add as many images as you want using the image tags. Don't post too many at once, though. The more pictures you insert in the message area, the longer it takes for the page to download. | ||
More Picture examples coming soon.
